During the month of February, the Sherwood School District will be conducting lock-in drills at all seven school buildings, the second series of drills this school year. As a next step in the preparedness training related to lock-ins, the District is offering the opportunity for schools to conduct this round of drills as “unannounced”. Recognizing that each school’s emergency plans or student needs may differ, it is up to the discretion of the school administrators which staff and student populations they will share the time of the drill in advance. During the lock-in, staff and students are secured within their individual classrooms/offices and there is no movement in the building. No one will be allowed to enter or exit the campus until the drill has been completed. Signage will be posted at building entrances to indicate when the drill is in-progress. During the drill, observers on site may include administrators, School Board members, Sherwood Police, and TVF&R Station 33 representatives.
Laurel Ridge Middle School will conduct a lock-in drill during the week of February 23rd - February 27th. Staff and students will be reminded throughout the week to expect a drill at any time. Please visit the District web site here to view the weeks that drills can be expected for each school.
