Message from the Principal

I wanted to take a minute to share about some awesome things happening here at Laurel Ridge and highlight some amazing student accomplishments. Please help me congratulate the following students on their academic successes!

Over the break while many of us were on vacations or just enjoying our time away from school, one of our students was working hard on some personal educational goals. Achieve3000 held a Make the Break contest and there was only one winner in each state nationwide. Congratulations to Laurel Ridge’s very own Cody Lavinder, 6th grader, who was the winner for the State of Oregon! He was selected from thousands of students who entered the contest, which encourages students to continue using Achieve3000 solutions over the holiday break and maintain the growth they worked so hard on in the fall. We are so proud of Cody and we will be presenting him with a certificate next week along with his prize of Singsation 5-in-1 system from Achieve3000.

Secondly, yesterday, many students participated in the Laurel Ridge Geography Bee afterschool. One particular student rose to the top, winning the Geo-bee for the 3rd consecutive time! Congratulations to Jake Flosi, 8th grader, on this impressive winning streak! However, we are so proud of Julia Chen (6th grade) who made him work hard for the win as it came down to one final question. Great job to both of these students and again, congratulations Jake on your three year winning streak!

Lastly, we have three 8th graders who were selected for All-district Honor Band! The district band features the best and brightest musicians from Sherwood, McMinnville, Newberg, Tigard, Tualatin, West Linn, Wilsonville, Lake Oswego, Lakeridge and Riverdale. Please help me congratulate Dylan Brutosky, Chloe Harty, and Megan Soto for representing Laurel Ridge! These three performed today and did an outstanding job!

Again, huge congratulations to these amazing students! We are so proud of you, Titans!!

School Board Recognition Month

January is School Board Recognition Month! Eric Campbell, Pat Allen, Jessica Adamson, Sue Hekker, and Michael Hiland make up the Sherwood School District’s Board of Directors. These parents and community members volunteer countless hours each month guiding the direction and policies of our District, helping to ensure it is a great place for all kids. If you see a Board member this month, please take a moment to thank them for their service.

SHS Incoming Freshman 2023 Parent Night

Our Incoming Freshmen 2023 Student/Parent Night is scheduled for Tuesday, February 19th and will be held at Sherwood High School from 6:30 p.m - 8:30 p.m.   There will be presentations regarding general information, elective choices, and advanced programs, as well as the opportunity to also attend the Club & Activity Fair and receive a tour of the school.

Please Note:  Enrollment & Forecasting Packets will be available that night ONLY for students who are residents of Sherwood and coming in from private schools or Sherwood Charter School. Students attending Laurel Ridge and Sherwood Middle School will receive their Forecasting Packets at school in the first part of February.

Activities Buses for Middle School Students

Two Activities Buses are now available to transport middle school students home.  Route 9 will serve LRMS and SHS students while Route 13 will serve SMS and SHS students.  The buses will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week.  They will arrive at the middle school around 4:00.  Students will need to sign in as they board the bus, as required by Measure 98.  Route 9 does not follow the normal AM/PM route and will have fewer stops.  Specific route and stop information can be found here.
