About Ms. Sullivan

Originally from rural northern California, I moved to Portland to attend the University of Portland after high school and have been here more or less ever since. Prior to teaching, I worked in footwear and apparel marketing and lived in Germany and China for a bit in that capacity.
However, I always wanted to be a teacher and got the chance to make the change in 2010 when I left marketing to attended Pacific University for my MAT.

I've been teaching 8th Grade Language Arts, Social Studies, Leadership, Journalism, Creative Writing and reading/writing intervention classes at LRMS since 2011 and thoroughly enjoy working with our students.

Last year I started the LRBC - the Laurel Ridge Book Club.
All students and staff can join! You can read more about it and our 100 Book Challenge here.

For the 2018-19 school year I'm teaching:
8th Grade Language Arts (2 periods)
8th Grade Social Studies (2 periods)
8th Grade AVID elective (1 period)

In my free time I enjoy traveling, cooking, swimming, reading, and spending time with friends & family.

I am happy to be your teacher and so looking forward to learning together this year!

"Education either functions as an instrument which is used to facilitate integration of the younger generation into the logic of the present system and bring about conformity or it becomes the practice of freedom, the means by which men and women deal critically and creatively with reality and discover how to participate in the transformation of their world."
