2017-18 Amplify Science Pilot

The middle level science teachers have been hard at work to evaluate science curriculum to adopt in the near future. As the state moves towards the Next Generation Science Standards, we have been challenged with finding a curriculum and resources that meet the rigor of the standards and the skills students need to demonstrate in middle school. Amplify is a digitally enhanced curriculum, however some aspects of it can be printed for students who do not have internet access at home. The curriculum relies heavily on classroom discussion, so attendance is important for students to be able to develop their critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills are developed through rich discussion, projects, scientific inquiry, and a variety of hands-on activities. Scientific inquiry refers to the development and understanding of ideas and how scientists study the world through questioning, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to produce justifiable evidence-based explanations.
