Amplify Science

After evaluating science curriculum, the middle level science teachers voted to adopt Amplify Science in spring 2018. As the state moves towards the Next Generation Science Standards, we have been challenged with finding a curriculum and resources that meet the rigor of the standards and the skills students need to demonstrate in middle school and Amplify will allow students to do this. Amplify is a digitally enhanced curriculum; however, some aspects of it can be printed for students who do not have internet access at home. The curriculum relies heavily on classroom discussion, so attendance is important for students to be able to develop their critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills are developed through rich discussion, projects, scientific inquiry, and a variety of hands-on activities. Scientific inquiry refers to the development and understanding of ideas and how scientists study the world through questioning, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to produce justifiable evidence-based explanations.
